BTI, Romania

Baptist Theological Institute, Bucharest, Romania

Romania is located in southeastern Europe. It is bordered by the Ukraine, Moldova, the Black Sea, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Hungary. The country's capital is Bucharest. Romania has a population of around 21,000,000 people, consisting mainly of Romanians, Hungarians, Germans, Turks and Serbians. In December 1989, a revolution replaced the communist regime with a democracy.

The Baptist union of Romania has two key schools, one in Oradea, which is essentially a small university, and the other in Bucharest. The Bucharest program (BTI) has two divisions, the traditional Bible College that prepares pastors for leadership in Baptist congregations throughout Romania, and the “faculty of theology” at the University of Bucharest. The latter is one of three theology faculties at the university that provide theological training for those on an academic track (i.e. not oriented towards pastoral or ordained ministry). The program takes place in two locations, which are both within walking distance of the university. This is a strong and vibrant program with a qualified faculty, strong links to the academic community in Romania, and fully accredited.
